                                          Causes of crisis
01- Central government's unfair interference in scraping state's hydro power projects.
02- Religious fundamentalist anti Uttralhand campaign
03- Incompetent leadership of the state.
04- Absence of powerful civic movement
05- Lack of strong political will
06- Corrupt and incompetent bureaucracy

Power crisis deepens in Uttrakhand and Government miserably failed to curb it. Public is expressing her in anger in Dharna and demonstrations outside the power stations. Angry Protesters stormed into power houses and the furniture was broken by them in some of the power stations. The public anger is mounting day by day and Government is unable to find any way out to control it. It seems that the things may get out of control at any time. Power Generation is at its lowest level and demand is climbing high.
Power crisis in Uttrakhand is now getting out of control. Government had surrendered before the crisis and the officers of U.P.C.L. are on back foot. Huge demonstration are being held at Power stations all over the state. Domestic, commercial and industrial sectors are facing the worst crisis. Twelve hours power cut has been imposed on Industries while rural areas are facing 9.30 hours power cut. The power cut of 7.00 hours power cut has been imposed on urban areas. The highly placed sources of Uttrakhand Power Corporation Limited revealed that the  state is generating only 15.5 million units . Sources said that state is getting 13.08 million units from central pool. Total availability of power is 28.48 million units against while the demand  has risen up to  34 million units. The sources told allvoices.com that there is a sharp rise in the gap between generation and demand of power. Gap is widening day by day and as the demand is increasing high due to bad weather conditions the crisis getting more vulnerable. Sources said that the reports of public anger coming from the different parts of the state are disturbing. These reports suggest that the state is heading towards power riots. They said half dozen power stations were attacked by the angry mob in the different parts of the state. The numbers may increase due to unavailability of power. Sources also told that there is no road map is prepared to tackle the situation and meet the rising demand of power. There complete in competency in U.P.C.L. and lack of political will had made the things more vulnerable. There is no plan for the generation of power to meet the growing demand. The power houses and hydro projects are getting old and older day by day.  Sources predict that the worst phase of power crisis is yet to come.  Sources said that this power crisis is going to hamper the industrial growth of the state as well as the commercial growth.
Meanwhile The aggressive regional outfit  Uttrakhand Janmanch  alleges that the weak leadership of the state had put the state into a trap of  power crisis.  Janmanch’s Secretary General Rajen Todariya said in a press statement that interference of central government and religious fundamentalists are responsible for this crisis. Janmanch said that the decision of scraping Loharinag pala, Pipalkoti, Pala Maneri and Bhairon Ghati hydro projects had proven suicidal for the state . Janmanch’s leader said that if these projects were not stopped the power crisis of Uttrakhand and Delhi would have been resolved.
