Mass Protest continued in Srinagar, Uttrakhand Janmanch warns of serious consequences

Srinagar has become the epicenter of massive public anger against Prime Minister and Central government. Thousands of protestors demonstrating since last three days against the closure of  Alaknanda hydro project in Srinagar. Prime minister is on the target of public anger. B.J.P. and R.S.S backed Save Ganga movement to erode the popular base of Congress in Uttrakhand. The Congressmen of Uttrakhand terming it a political hara-kiri committed by P.M. Uttrakhand Janmanch, a extreme regionalist organization inspired by Raj Thakre’s M.N.S. warned Central government of serious consequences.
Public Anger in Srinagar:
P.M. has become the principal target of the
protesters
Srinagar is boiling in this summer. Political temperature is rising as well as the weather temperature. Heat and dust has made the life of people more difficult. Chauras is also a part of this valley. This is a cluster of four or five villages which is affected by Alaknanda hydro project. The layers of dust can be seen in every part of houses in this area. The people of this settlement are calm and cool but things have been changed since last three days. People are worried and full of doubts  about their future . Prime Minister Office decided to scrape Alaknanda hydro project, although 80 percent of work of the project has already been completed.  This one sided decision of P.M.O made the people of Chauras annoyed and force them to go on strike. The anger in the whole area is mounting day by day. Agitators are blocking  the Rishikesh  Badrinath highway since last three days. District administration and state government is unable to face the public anger and likely to surrender before this. Meanwhile the extreme regionalist non political organization Uttrakhand Janmanch has become the voice of the people. This organization is inspired by the Raj Thakre’s M.N.S. Janmanch alleges that Prime Minister is anti hill and captive of religious fundamentalist organizations. It seems that propaganda of  Janmanch is  working and now the  P.M. is at the target of public anger. B.J.P.’s cadre is trying hard to infiltrate in the movement, so that they can capture the movement.
The emerging political scenario is turning in favour of B.JP. Ironically the Save Ganga movement is backed by the R.S.S. and Hindu fundamentalists. B.J.P. was losing ground in the hills due to Save Ganga Movement. The non political approach of P.M. Manmohan Singh had diverted the whole public anger against Congress. A senior congressman termed this act of P.M. as political hara-kiri.
