Six days long tussle with in Congress come to an end and Congress President Sonia Gandhi voted in favour of Vijay Bahuguna. Vijay Bahuguna will be the 6 th C.M. of Uttrakhand and first from Tehri. Once again Harish Rawat failed to gain the faith of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Rawat’s hidden relations with BSP damaged his image in the eyes of 10 Janpath. It is also to be noted that Cong had suffered a humiliating defeat in Haridwar in the last assembly election. This defeat was also weakened the Harish Rawat and his political position.


Vijay Bahuguna was practicing lawyer of Supreme Court and also remained ex justice of High Court. He is elder son of late Hemvatinandan Bahuguna. He is elected M.P. from Tehri parliamentary constituency in 2007 and re elected in year 2009 again. H.N.Bahuguna was Chief Minister of U.P. during 1973 – 76. H.N. Bahuguna was one of the founders of Janata Party. He was also remained Cabinet Minister in Janata Party government. Vijay Bahuguna comes from the reputed political family of India. His sister Rita Bahuguna is President of U.P. Congress. He has a younger brother Shekhar Bahuguna. It is first time in the history of Uttrakhand when father and son both elected for the post of C.M.  
Vijay Bahuguna will take the oath for the post of C.M. Tuesday evening at Parade Ground Dehradun. No Cabinet Minister is scheduled to swear in with him.
