Janmanch
Demands Immidiate postponement
of
Assembly Elelection
Uttrakhand Janmanch, a non
party political outfit of Uttrakhand, demands postponement of election process
with immediate effect. In a mail and letter faxed to Chief Election
Commissioner of India, Janmanch’s
Secretary General Rajen Todariya stated that hills of Uttrakhand are facing
worst snowfall in last sixty years. All hilly villages and roads at the height
of 5000 ft are under snow cover due to continuous snowfall from last 9 days . Janmanch
stated that the weather conditions in the hills are unprecedented . It is extra
ordinary situations and no election normal campaign is possible in these
adverse conditions.
Janmanch again charged Election
Commission for preparing a non scientific election program for the hills in the
month of January. Janmanch also criticized C.EC. for his arrogant attitude towards the
election schedule. Secretary General said that it seems that Chief Election
Commissioner is not ready to learn from the weather which has proved him
wrong. Janmanch said that candidates
have only 87 hours to convey their election symbols to the voters, which is
impossible in the hills where villages are scattered and situated at difficult
snow clad hilly terrain. Rajen Todariya said that it seems that Chief Election
Commissioner is trying to create a unfair poll conditions where Cong and BJP
may establish the undue lead over their political opponents. Todariya described
it unfair and against the principles of free and fair election.
